Grumbles

There have been grumbles in our house - we no longer have snacky foods (and the disgust when I ordered Smart Price crisps!!!!) I pointed out that I have a budget and am sticking to it - food is getting dearer everytime I do a shop and I cant just have stuff in "in case" someone fancies it - since I have been doing my menus and on-line weekly shop there has been nothing (and I mean nothing) thrown out which is great.

I didn't get round to baking this week as I was busy so will try at the weekend to pacify the munchers!

I was very pleased with myself today - eldest dd wasn't feeling well so I did her housework and went to Tesco for her messages. Normally I would be getting quite a bit for myself and although I was eying up stuff I remained stalwart throughout and came out only having spent £3 on chocolate (time of the month - had to happen!)

Tea is one of the 20p chicken joints I got reduced with onions, parsnips, coarse grain mustard, thyme and veg stock done in the slow cooker with rice -smells lovely!

Feb housekeeping left - £116.11 left (Asda price match - total Feb refund - £4.61)
(£50 goes into holiday fund)
Spent - my allowance - £55.49
Spent - clothes - £14.74
Spent - household - £35.99
Spent - entertainment - £55.85
Spent - Christmas 2011 - £106.25 (saved - £202.45!)

  1. I have done the same - not bought any biscuits or cakes since before Christmas, I try and make something every week now so they all have something sweet to nibble. This week I made a batch of biscuits on Sunday, made it into 4 rolls and kept them in the fridge, so this week we have had a batch of home made biscuits after tea each evening, even my son cooked a batch yesterday!!

  2. Well done, did read your post wrong and thought you had done your daughter's homework, yikes must get new glasses. Our food prices have gone crazy, petrol is over $2.00 a litre, it so depressing. I get some satisfaction trying to live as frugally as possible.
