Cheap food...

Very pleased with my Approved food order - I now have packets and packets of Weight watcher bagels and pitta breads in my freezer. Wasnt disapointed with anything - cannot grumble at 3kgs of pasta for 99p! The only thing I am unsure what to do with is 3 very large tins of mango pulp - any ideas??? And did my weekly shopping with Sainsburys on-line with free delivery - so no petrol spend on going to the shops.

  1. Mango:
-use along with another fruit to make a fruit crisp
    -add to smoothies
-use to make a fruit sauce over ice cream, a pound cake, angel food cake
-use as a fruit base for a crumb topped, bar cookie. Search under fruit filled oatmeal bars, you should be able to come up with something
    -make jam

  2. I saw that Mango pulp on AF and wondered if it would be any good for chutney. Or maybe too soft?
I'm waiting for them to have some cheap bread flour but none for months.

  3. Thrifty Lesley posted this lovely recipe :- A gorgeous Chickpea, Mango and Coconut Curry 53p http://t.co/eFC77B3kPv

Saw this posted somewhere, but cannot recall where. If you purchased any of the ice cream mix from approved foods you could mix in some of the mango pulp to flavour the icecream. Also add some coconut milk to give a lovely tropical flavour.

  4. An ingredient in a curry sauce? Mix with yogurt, make ice cream, add to porridge for breakfast (mmmmm).

  5. If you can't think of what to do with a full tin, use what you need for your recipe and then freezer the rest from the tin in single use sized portions, that way there will be no wastage and you will get your moneys worth :-)
